Recently my daughter said she smelled something burning and that the car overheated a bit.

After driving the car around I've come to find out that the cooling fan isn't working. I know that generally the fan would stay on for a few minutes after being driven. What should I look for? Where should I start? Thanks.

Several things can cause the fans not to work. Check the coolant level to be sure it is up to where it should be.

The cooling fan relay, coolant temperature sensor and the computer can all cause the fans not to work.

To check the relay just switch it with another relay of the same type. This will tell you if it is bad or not.

Be sure to also check the connectors to the cooling fan.
