95 VW golf stopped in wet will not start. Checked for fuel,spark etc all ok tried easy start & car backfires

Get a can of wire dry and spray around the wire connections. Had it happens a few years ago washed off my engine and would not start afterwards. The plug wires had water in them and shorted out a couple of cylinders. If you have access to a compressor use the air to help dry it out.
