Problem...

Okay, so i have a 1999 pontiac grand am.
i was driving my car the other day, and it just died. i got it started back up, but it immediately died. it did this twice.
we had to tow my car home.
anyways. it will not start, but it turns over really well like it wants to.
when i turn my key to the on position, i can hear the fuel pump kick in. i was told it may be my fuel filter, or in the electrical system..? but i dont know.
i know it is not my ignition switch. we went and had it tested at auto zone, and it works.
i need a professional outlook on this...

have the fuel pressure checked. fuel pumps are common failures. you may hear the pump but it does not mean it is putting the correct pressure to the rail
