Lately when I let the car idle for long periods of time, it will start to misfire and stutter when in gear, but after awhile at highway speeds it stops stuttering. Yesterday, I tried to start the car, it almost started. And now I can not get the car started. It turns over fine, had the fuel pump replaced about 4 months ago, new battery about 6 months ago. I put in new distributor cap, rotor, plugs, and plug wires. I am suspecting the coil is bad. Checked the repair manual, it says that I can not replace just the coil, the whole distributor needs replaced. I am not wanting to spend 200 dollars on a 20 dollar part. Basically, is the coil a prime suspect, and can I just replace the coil not the whole distributor?
