1995 Land Rover Other Repair Question

For a 1995 range rover when you try to start it and it turns over and doest startt but after putting the accelerator to the floor 3times it starts why does that happen ?

Check and test the coolant temperature sensor this sensor is like a carbuerator choke for cold initial starts
