This is not my vehicle and I don't have the circumstances of what happened.
It was in use and supposedly died on the side of the road. Now It will not start. There is power on the dash when the key is in and turned to prestart but, to crank there is nothing happening to the starter. The battery was run down but with cables hooked up still nothing to starter even though @ dash there is power? Had a friend in the cab with key in and turnded to crank while I was trying to cross over the starter nothing happened. Any help would be great.

I would have to make sure the battery has a full charge, charge it up. Then check wiring circuits at the starter. Two circuits at the starter to check, One is battery voltage, hot all the time. The other circuit goes hot with the key in the crank position and may be wired through the neutral switch. Also check ground for starter, usually grounds through the housing. Your battery connections need to be good. The engine isn't froze-up?

Did you check voltage, anywhere? Use a test lite.

Some of the national brand auto stores will test the starter for you, if you take it off and take it to them. You can do some tests on the starter, take it off and lay it on the ground, hook up jumper cables properly from starter to fully charged battery, At the least, starter should kick out drive gear and spin. If it won't do anything, you have to suspect the starter, yes, that is no load test.
