pick up was running very poorly. it would die at stop signs if you didn't put it in neutral
replaced fuel filter, spark plugs and wires,02 sensor ran injector cleaner through gas tank. distributor and rotor running better now it stays running but it acts like its going in neutral while driving. once this happens you can turn the truck off re-start it and go some more. will do this every few miles.

Has the check engine light come on? This sounds like a trans module or shift solenoid problem. This guide should help us fix it

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/engine-stalls

Please run down this guide and report back.

your problem sounds like one I had on my 2003 gmc.I took it to shop and they put it on machine and it said all was fine(see even diagnostics can`t detect all problems). They told me it was either throttle body or fuel sensor switch(which on gmc is all one unit)I replaced throttle body and that fixed my problem also some other problems like hard shifting, surgeing when cruise on and shutting down(controle panel would say reduced power mode)and cut power, stop vehicle shut it off and start back up would run fine for bit then do it all over again.I hope this helps. The tech said that chevy and gmc are bad about this.Bad thing is I think trans shift modual is located in the throttle body($350)

I am currently having the same problem with the same model truck. I have cleaned out the throttle body entirely and put new gaskets. I replaced the throttle position sensor, and I still have that problem. Also changed the fuel filter. My pump is running fine. I have no clue so far, but I guess I'll let you know if I figure it out.

I'm going to try the map sensor next, and if that doesn't work, I'll try the ECM. I'm hoping the map sensor works. You can test to see if you need to replace any of these, but I can't because I don't have the equipment. I'll let you know if the map sensor works tomorrow.

Im stuck... my motor stalls out of nowhere in my truck while driving and ideling randomly. I put a new ground on my battery and checked it, new fuel filter, alternator and catalytic converter. After it stalls the service engine soon light comes on and the motor surges and shifts late if I turn the truck off for awhile and turn it back on the service engine light turns off and the truck runs great. Im going to do the plugs and wires but after that not sure where to go from there. If anybody has any ideas would be much appreciated thankyou.

I took out the ignition module had it tested and it passed. Im not sure how to test the coil or the pickup coil the truck also started leaking coolant not sure from where all of a sudden dont know if its related. Also I took a look at the knock sensor the wire seemed fine but the wire that y's out to the starter is fried not sure what thats about either Im thinking about putting a whole new distributor, cap and rotor if that does not solve the problem I think im over my head.

If system voltages are ok, I don't why turning on the headlamps would kill it. I'd have to be sure battery has a full charge, use a dmm. Also, check all battery connections coming and going from battery. Check charging system. Fusible links, where applicable.

When is raining or snowing and the car is running the revolutions of the engine start going up and down adn when I stop, the engine light lightup and the car die if I don't keep it accelerate or changed to parking. Is the only way to keep it running. This not happend when the roads are dry. All this happend when is wet I took the car to the shop but nothing was found because was dry already.

can you get teh check engine light scanned for codes that would really help.

with the engine running at night you can check to see if you see any sparks.

with engine running on a warm dry day spray salt water mixture slowly on the electrical components untill you see electricity arc through the mist or the vehicle starts to hesitate.

let me know what you find.

I have a 1995 chevy truck Silverado 305 cu.in. 5.0 liter. The problem i'm having is: The truck starts normal, it idles for about 5-& seconds than it dies out. It has a (DTC) 54 which says is the fuel pump circuit low voltage, or the EGR system. When i turn the key on i could hear the fuel pump go on but it stays way longer then 2 seconds. I have replaced fuel filter, fuel pump, idle air control valve (IAC), cleaned inside the throttle body with throttle body cleaner using a piece of rag on a stick. It starts than it drops to about 2000 rpm's, it shakes than dies out. Your help would be great. Thank you

Sounds like your truck is likely loosing prime. Check your under-hood fuel delivery system by tracing your lines from the fuel filter housing to the CP3. Did you do any work on the truck recently? I had a similar problem and found a loose banjo bolt on the Fuel Injection Control Module (FICM). Look for any wet spots (diesel) around your engine bay, in the engine valley, and on the sides of the block.
