Started when truck would not turn over. I would then hit the shifter handle towards the Park position and then it would turn over. This worked for a couple of months when initially the truck would not turn over. It got harder to get it to turn over and I am to the point to where I have to turn the key so I can shift through the gears and push it hard into park to get it to turn over. Have to repeat several times sometimes. Also noticed that the gear position lights are not on no matter the gear. Once started everything is perfect.

Sounds like you could have a bad selector switch. Will it ever start in neutral?

No, when it would not turn over in Park, I shifted to Neutral and it would not start. Pushed back in Park and it turned over.

Lets try this first before we check other things I want to make sure the linkage isn't out of adjustment. When it doesnt turn over block the wheels unhook the linkage while its in park. Make sure the arm on the transmission is moved all the way to the park position then see if it starts?

Put truck on stands. Disconnected linkage. Put in park manually from under the hood and no turn over. Reshifted with force at the end and it turned over. This, at the end works, but sometimes with several tries. I do not think it is in the column, but I do not know.

Sounds like a bad selector switch since its not in the linkage and if you move it around it will start. Its the only thing that makes sense to me.

I have checked everywhere I can and can not find a "selector switch" for my truck. Can you send a diagram or part number? Thank you, John
