Oldsmobile Ciera Engine Problem

I have read of a method to extract check engine codes by shorting terminals A and B with a wire and turning on the ignition. (1994 Olds Cutlass 3.1L)

Upon inspecting the connector, there is no connector in the B hole.

The service manual shows 6 connections used in the 12 pin connector, but my car has only 4 wires.

Has anyone heard of this before?

Any Ideas?

Thanks Mark.
