The overdrive engages at 55 mph but goes back to third at about 58 mph and stays there until it returns to 55 mph. This may only be coincidental but the check engine light stays on most of the time even though I've had it diagnosed a couple of times but nothing shows up.

When the MIL indicates, there should be trouble codes stored in the PCM. If none found, the PCM could be faulty.

I'll have it checked again. I guess I should be asking if it is possible that some sort of sensor could be the cause or the overdrive is simply shot.

If any sensors are shorting, they can cause it and the MIL would be indicating. Some trouble codes are not stored and u would have to get the dcan done when it is indicating, without turning the ignition off.
