Drags when moving from stop, but speeds in 'L' from stop.
I have a lexus es 250 94 model, works fine, but drags in 'd' when moving from park & picks up normally. But if i engage 'L' from park, it takes off faster then i switch back to 'd'. The tranny was repaired 3months ago when it could only reverse & not drive forward. What could be wrong ?
Again, the engine at times gives out white smoke when it idles, & it drives for sometime before the smoke stops. What may be the problem?

white smoke may be coolant burning from possible overheating.
the trans sounds like a valve body issue. did you service it regularly.

If the smoke is slightly grey, it is oil being burnt in the cylinders.
For the transmission, check for trouble codes.
