Sometimes the car will just up its revs while driving or at traffic lights, then splutter to go again power loss while this is happening, one we have noticed is that it only happens after we've been driving for a while never when its cold. And sometimes it smells burning oil smell after, Whats going on?

Do you have overheating or coolant losses issues?

Symptoms indicates a fault in the idle system and lack of coolant can cause it.

The other possible cause would be a faulty Idle Air control valve.
