1994 Ford Ranger Repair Question

Ford Ranger Bushing Problem

I replaced the stop light switch today and I just checked to see if they were still working and nothing. Its a brand new switch and when i push the whole unit up the brakes come on but i cant figure out whats going on with it

did you put the bushings back on?? there are 2 bushings for the switch that must be there

I put a test light on it and i'm not getting any power through the constant hot wire lite green with red tracer. It only had one bushing on it and i made sure it was there. I'm out of ideas. Checked all wires and Hazards work, turn signals work, reverse and license plate lights all work too. I even tried a jumper wire to complete the circuit and still nothing. No blown fuses and all bulbs work with headlights on
