My truck has a problem of the gas gage. The gas gage stays at the E line all the time, when moving or not. I am not sure what the problem is but there is a switch for my fuel pump on my dash. I think the person who wired it up took the wires to the gas gage dial. Please help! Thanks

The switch is to switch tanks.

Gain access to the fuel pump/sending unit on top of the tank and see if it's getting power. You could, first, check the fuses.

If you've got a test light, check them both. I've attached the instrument cluster schematic. Unless the previous owner changed it, it looks like it should be purple. To ground with power on. The turn the key off and test resistance across the two terminals with a meter.
