POWER STEERING PROBLEM
1994 Buick Roadmaster
I have a 1994 Buick Roadmaster. Recently I was driving and the power steering went out. I heard a pop from under the hood and the car became hard to steer. I replaced the pump and that didnt fix the problem. I checked the lines and steering linkage and found no problems there either. Finally I replaced the steering gears with a set out of the junkyard. Still no improvement. I am lost as to where to go from here. When it is on jackstands the wheels turn fine. I even went as far as to jack up under the control arms to load the suspension with the wheels still being off the ground. Again the wheels turn fine. As soon as they make contact with the ground the steering gets stiff. Can somebody please give me a place to go from here!
