Buick Century Brakes Problem

I am mechanically inclined and have never seen a problem like this, When driving normally (55-60)mph and you step on the brakes, the car backfires. And when it is just sitting and running, if I hold the gas pedal down lightly and put on the brakes, the idle decreases, and increases when I take my foot off the brake. There are no lights or codes for anything, including the ABS. I have seached for vacuum leaks, bad wires, hoses ect, I have disconnectes the vacuum hose from the brake booster and plugged it and it still did the same thing. I have no idea where to go from here. Any Ideas???
Thanks, Tom

Have you checked the alternator yet? Also maybe the brake lights have a bad ground and stealing ground from another circuit?
