Acura Vigor Engine Problem

My car missies sometimes and when it is missing the tackometer quits working. Is this an indication that the cam sensor is bad. It is the five cylinder engine. It does not do it all of the time.

No the check engine light does not come on when it starts to cut out. It has new spark plugs and wires on it. Every time it starts missing the tachometer quits working and goes to zero. Is it possible that the camshaft sensor or crank shaft sensor also operates the tachometer I have been fighting this problem for about two years now. It is never consistent as to when it is going to act up
