What is the recommended mileage to change timing chain?

1993 Pontiac Transport Van. What would be the recommended mileage to have the timing chain replaced on a Pontiac Transport? If so is this a rod bending engine?

We would recommend replacing the timing chain at 100,000 miles. If the timing chain fails there is a very good chance the result would be bent valves.
