My boyfriend has a 1993 Pontiac Trans Am and is trying to remove the caliper on the abs brakes to replace the brake pad. There are rubber things covering the bolts that hold the calipers in place. What is the tool called that is needed to remove these rubber things?

There are no rubber things to remove. A 3/8" allen socket should remove the slide bolt.

If you're referring to rubber caps over the bolt heads, just use a screwdriver to pry them off, then use a socket and small hammer to tap them back on later. They help a little to keep dirt and water out of there. Those bolts must be clean and shiny with no rust pits so the caliper can move freely. Also use a light coating of high-temperature brake grease on them.
