Sir I had this rattling noise from the engine since a few weeks now. I am not driving the car since I got it initially. A local mechanic told me that it is the sound of the bigend bearings, and the reason he told me was that I had not changed the engine oil for quite a time. Now I am going through real tension. Kindly get me out of it. Kindly tell me how to change the big end bearings and how costly it is. Plus I havent ever seen bigend bearings how they look.
regards.

First thing for the rattling sound start the engine and pullone spark plug wire at a time if rattling goes away orsubsides it may be a rod bearing not a main. However I fyou pull the pan and see that the crank has grooves init or is scored in ay way you need to put a crank kit in it as well as have your rods resized. This is really an engine overhaul is best to take care of this. We dont' really have a good pic of the bearings. This is a generic pic of crankshaft bearings. Pointed in pic
