I have a 1993 mercury villager van and sometimes while waiting for a light on a hill while in drive the car sometimes rolls backward slowly and is offset by pressing the gas is this normal for a car to do this and if it is a problem what would be the cost to fix it?

Is this automatic or manual? If you keep your foot on the brake, there should be no rolling. I've seen automatics do this, different makes and models. I don't know the fix? One of the tranny guys should have better info than I.

I figured it was an automatic. I don't know the fix? You might call a tranny shop see if they will give an estimate to fix.

The last time I had anything to do with a tranny shop, They didn't fix anything, they pulled the old tranny out and stuck in a reman. Cost me 7 or 8 hundred dollars and that was years ago. I don't work on trannies.
