Via daughter at college: Car was driving fine. Then started shaking, could smell gas, and gas coming out tailpiple. :Advised to go to Toyota dealership, called to tell me that the $600 of work didnt solve problem, traced to ECM, additional $1800. I did some calling around, they are quoting about $1400 for a Lexus NEW ECM unit. I found one that can be shipped with 18 month warranty for $350. My question: how much should they charge me to install if I have this part sent up to the toyota dealership?

Thanks Roy,
You da Man. Forgot to mention auto tran, CA car. So if those are new prices, and Im down here in Tampa, Florida, and send the $350 ECM unit up to Gainesville Toyota, what is a fair price just for install? So far they have just come up with incredibly high prices so not quite trusting what they say.

First, why are you replacing it? I saw your post but are you sure you dont need a second opinion?

The labor is 1 hour.
