Hi there, I have a DC2 Honda Integra 1993, it has a B18c in it. Lastnight after it had done a few doughnuts it started making a ticking noise when the engine is running. It will tick when idling and tick when driving (only drobe it to take home). The more I push the throttle the faster the ticking noise goes. Im sure it not the oil levels as we topped it up when we heard this noise. A friend said that when going from first gear to secondhe could see some smoke. Please help me! I just got the car out of the mechanics yesterday for $550 now its doing this.

The ticking could mean you need a new timing belt. It could also be related to the smoke from the exhaust. To better explain this I am giving you a diagnostic walk through. Just follow the steps and it will help you to diagnose the problem as it covers the most common sources for the issues you are having.
