My 1993 Ford Explorer is acting like its not getting any gas. It wont idle and it dies every time I try to drive it. Black stuff was coming out of the tail pipe and when you remove the vacuum line it will idle. I have already changed the fuel filter kimberleetiner@yahoo. Com

You are getting too much fuel. Check the air filter and induction tube to make sure nothing is clogged. Also, if the check engine light is on, havet he computer scanned. Just so you know, the black smoke indicates a rich fuel mixture. When you remove a vacuum hose, it allows more air to the engine and that is why it will idle.
