Bucking and********

When i push the throttle to the floor the engine begins to stall and accelerate very rapidly when it reaches higher rpm the engine smooths out to normal even power. This car does actually have 698,000 miles on it and it had been neglected terribly maintenance wise. i have cleaned the mass airflow sensor and throttle body so far. i suspect that it is the fuel filter or pump. Next i plan to plug a code reader into it. Any Other ideas on whats wrong?

Scan the computer for code/s if none check and test below its worth trying-

Oxygen sensor.
Catalytic converter.
Fuel injectors dirty/sticking.
Mass airflow sensor/Airflow meter.
Throttle position sensor.
Crankshaft position sensor
Knock sensor
Manifold absolute pressure sensor.
EGR Valve
Fuel pressure regulator leaking or defective fuel pump.
Fuel contamination.
Foul/defective spark plugs.
Open spark plug wires.
Ignition coil/Coil packs defective.
Incorrect ignition timing.
Cap and rotor.

Note:If it doesn't apply disregard it and keep testing

I replaced the fuel filter and that solved the problem for the most part, but before it is at operating temperature it still does it. i find this interesting as it is fuel injected it has also been hard to start.
