1993 Dodge Spirit Repair Question

EGR Valve
My car has been doing the same thing, a friend told me to check the egr valve, we have already changed the plugs, and the gas mileage went from good to really bad.. It only has 70 orig miles on it.. How do you check to see if this valve is bad?

Remove the valve and look for signs of excessive carbon build-up. Clean any carbon and clear blockages of the passages the vavle is seated on.
