1992 Mazda Protege Steering wheel hard to turn.

I replaced a new power steering and added the ATF transmission fluid the recommended that they told me and I been driving it its hard to turn when im parked and backing up or when driving slow its hard the only way it doesn't get hard is when im driving faster but when im slowing down it gets hard I dont know what it could be.

In the old days, we used ATF in the PS pump. Newer cars require standard power steering fluid. First, make sure the belt is tight. Next, you should drain the ATF from the system and replace it with PS fluid. Make sure the engine idle is not too low. Let me know what you find.

Belt seems tight and my car is a 1992 does it need the standard power steering since they power steerig is newer?
