Why wont my car start?

When i turn the key the engine cranks over like it wants to start, has spark, but will not fire. I tried spraying "starting fluid" into the butterfly valve on the engine however that didnt help. Any suggestions would be much appreciated would like to get the car started a.s.a.p

f both fuel and spark is present-check the valve and ignition timing, this will lead you to problems

with compression and valves opening and closing at the wrong time/broken or jumped timing
