1992 Jaguar XJ6 Repair Question

Bad Oil Gage

JAG,1992, 4 dr XJ6,125K,Auto,sedan. Oil gage is fine when running and then drop into red zone and red warning light comes on. Full of oil car runs fine oil gage goes up and back to normal when giving it gas. do i have a oil senser failure.

Have the oil pressure tested with a mechanical gauge, if all is well, replace the sender unit, start here.

thank you i will do that, where is the sending unit located? I am almost sure that is bad as the car runs fine does not get hot no oil in the water, no smoke.

It's next to the oil filter, look for a round switch with a single push on wire terminal.
