When I go to start my truck makes a grinding noise as I'm starting it its really loud. I remove the starter and the flywheel to look for damage I also noticed as I spin the crank and watch the flywheel the distance between the flywheel and bellhousing. Changes it gets closer and then movess away

YOUR FLYWHEEL/ FLEX PLATE MAY BE CRACKED ACROSS SEVERAL OF THE HOLES (BOLT HOLES) WHERE IT BOLTS ONTO THE CRANKSHAFT. THIS WOULD SORTA MAKE IT WARP OUT OF ROUND.

THE STARTER'S TEETH MAY NO LONGER BE ABLE TO ENGAGE THE RING TEETH AS IT ROTATES AND THE TEETH GET FURTHER AWAY FROM THE STARTER.

IF THIS IS THE CASE, REPLACING THE FLYWHEEL IS THE ONLY PROPER FIX
