I have a 92 Bronco full size 4x4 that does not start some times. Most of the time it starts right up without a hitch, but sometimes after I drive it around and turn it off, it wint start back up. Strange thing is is that when it does not start, I can rock it back and forth in nuetral, and it will start up.

When it doesn't start, does the starter still crank the engine? Also, it it does crank but not start, can you hear the fuel pump work? Does it get spark to the engine? I ask because 92 is when they started using a electronic engine control relay (EEC). They have a habbit of going bad. When they do, the engine will crank, but it will not get spark or fuel; thus, it won't start. The EEC relay is located in the relay block under the hood. Check that and let me know what you find.

Hi and thanks for the reply. Well, when it doesn't start, nothing cranks. I do hear the fuel pump fire up every time, even when it doesn't start. The solenoid mounted on the fender wont click, though. I believe the EEC relay is one the black cubes that plug into the fuse block in the engine compartment, if so then yes, I have changed that. The only thing I can do to get it started is to rock the bronco, or just push it a little and it'll start right up. Could the Neutral safety switch be an issue? I recently had the transmission dropped, I also changed the ignition switch, and key lock cylinder.

Since it doesn't crank, the EEC is out. I would tell you to check the neutral safety switch. That sounds like where the issue is. Check the wiring to it too. Something may have been damaged when the trans was removed.
