Had to jump start it. New battery, new alternator. Got down road a mile and all dash lights went out and then died. Completely dead. But I can let the car sit and idle, and it will be fine. Now the car has sat for many years due to fuel pump failure. It belonged to my late grand father.

First charge and test the battery and once you have a fully charged battery and you get it running, test the charging system.

OK, so your charging system isn't working. You also don't have a fully charged battery at 12.2. It should be 12.6 for a good battery. Now you have to determine why the charging system isn't working. Test for power at the main terminal with the key OFF.
