1992 cadillac deville
I went to autozone and traded out the engine control computer on my 1992 cadillac deville. It was a remanufactured one. What would make the computer go bad I thought it was suppose to fry the fuse not the computer. That is why it would not start. also the gas smells rich what can I do about that.

A short circuit somewhere within the computer -running rich:
Probable causes of an engine running rich are as follows:
1.Excessive fuel pressure can be cause by restricted fuel return line
2.Defective Oxygen Sensors.
3.Leaking injectors and fuel pressure regulator.
4.Coolant temperature sensor out of calibration.
5.Restricted air intake system.
