My car is Volkswagen Citi Golf 1991 model 1800cc Carburetor.
When I exceed 100Kph/3000Rrm the low oil pressure light and buzzer comes on. When I switch engine off and back on again it will be ok for about 5minutes then it comes on again. Can it be the oil filter that was changed 26,000Km ago?

Yes, could be a restricted oil filter.

At 26k km, time to change it.

If the problem still happens, attach a mechanical pressure gauge to check oil pressure. Minimum 29psi at 2000rpm when warm.

Thank you very much Thomas for your prompt reply. Noted on standard oil pressure to be about 29Psi at 2000Rpm.I will see if I can check that with a makeshift oil pressure gauge.
I am embarrassed to mention that I have not changed the oil filter for 26,000Km,
with life's rushes.I must have had a "senior moment".
Anyway changed the filter and oil, so now all seems to be ok.
Thanks again for your input.

Thanks Thomas for your interest. Yes, it was the oil filter that was clogged.
I think old age is creeping up on me as I normally change the oil filter every 10,000Km.
Again thanks,
Andy.
