I have a 1991 Toyota 4Runner. I removed the old car alarm unit as I thought it was draining the battery and now the automatic transmission will not engage a gear. Every gear acts as if it is in neutral. Please advise. Thanks, John

Recheck where alarm was to see if there are any broken/cut wires. Check all your fuses.

It is apparently not the transmission. The back wheels are locked. I put the car in gear, release the hand brake and it does not move, in any gear or even 4 wheel drive. Then I jacked up the car, put the automatic transmission in neutral and released the hand brake. I could not get the wheel to rotate by hand. Some thing is locking the rear wheels. Please advise. Thanks, John

It can be any of the items shown in pic pointed out as well as broken axles/gears/ and wheel bearings. Until you take out axles an dcenter joint you won't know as you can't see form behind as it is a solid housing.
