Transmission wont engage in D. Reverse, 1 and 2 engage fine. what do you figure is the problem, solenoids seem like an idea?

It just happened as i reversed out of a parking spot, went to put in in D, but nothing. had to drive home in 2nd. got it home, have tried numerous times to see if it will engage, but nothing...no drive.

please help! Thanx

internal failure. sounds like the low sprag but a trans shop can confirm. it most likely will have to come out and be overhauled.

Thanks for the reply. i assume the fact that gears 1 and 2 are still working means that the Drive setting uses different gears than the low gears....or 1 and 2 wouldnt work. filters been changed, fluids perfect......probably easier to get another from the wreckers than pay to get it rebuilt.
