1990 Toyota Corolla Repair Question

The cab light in my 1990 corolla will go on when i open the door but when i click it to the "on" position it goes off. so i know the bulb works but why won't it go on when i turn it on?
Light just won't turn on when i flick it to the "on" side of the cab light

Chances are the switch itself if bad. Check to see if there is power out of the switch in the on position.
