When you give it the gas, does the engine rev? Did you check tranny fluid? Do you think it is a tranny issue or engine?

How long since a tune-up? Any applicable mil codes? Use a gage and check fuel pressure.

yes the engine revs and there is plenty of tranny fluid but what I failed to mention was that I just replaced the flywheel cause it was cracked, I orginaly thought it was the tourqe converter but when I removed the tourqe converter I saw that flywheel was cracked so I replaced it and not more than a week of driving my truck that same sound started again you know the knocking noise and so I took a look down there and sure enough it was the flywheel cracked again. I figured I had a few more drives left in the so I drove it three more times but on te third drive is when the probem acured and then I had to get it twed back home.

Bellhousing and torque converter bolts all torqued correctly? Main bearings ok? The correct flex-plate. Sounds like something not lining up correctly?

well I ended up replaceing the engine but i kept the tranny from the old engine and when i when i started it, it started just fine but when i put it into gear nothing happened so I got back under the truck and I noticed that there was a plug hanging from around the tranny now does that plug need to be attached to something could that be my problem as to why the truck will not go into gear
