I can start my van no problem and run it as long as I want but when I turn it off I can not start it back up until I let it cool down. I have been told this is being caised by vapor lock which I don't know what that means and if it is how do o fix this issue. Or what causes should I look for.

Vapor lock is the result of the fuel in the fuel lines overheating and causing a blockage in the system. As far as the problem, you need to check to see if you have both spark and fuel to the engine when it doesn't start. One will be missing and then you will know what system to focus on.
