I have a 1990 Ford Mustang LX. I know very little about cars. My car has overheated once, starts to get very hot when idling, or stopped for any amount of time, coolant seems to go pretty fast, I know the cooling fan isnt working but I dont know how to fix that. I dont know what else is wrong with it. What can I do?

Is it leaking externally if not fix the cooling fan problem and try replacing the thermostat and also check the coolant temperature sensor.

If it continues to overheat get it block and pressure tested

The first thing you have to do is resolve the cooling fan issue. That will have to be troubleshooted using a wiring diagram and computer safe testlight. You may have already done serious internal damage with the previous overheating but we won't find out until the fan is fixed and you get it chemical tested for a head gasket.
