FUEL ISSUES ON A 90
1990 Chevrolet Cavalier • 4 cylinder FWD Automatic • 424,357 miles
Enter your question...I have a 1990 Chevy Cavalier 2.2cid vinG. It does have excessive miles on it (over 400,000) but still runs really well for the most part. It does however bog down when going up hills like it is starving for fuel. Once it reaches the top and the car levels off it is fine. What could cause this? I have replaced the fuel filter and pump already. Thank you for any help and ideas you may have.
Check for a restricted catalytic Converter.
Thank you for your response. This car doesn't have a catalytic converter anymore. Hasn't had one for a few years. Back in 2006 when it hit 300,000 miles I didn't figure on keeping it much longer and the muffler shops around here wanted $700.00 to put a new exhaust on it. Just couldn't see that at the time so I put a straight pipe in where the converter was.
