My 1990 Buick century starts and runs great, plenty of power, sounds great but it stalls with no warning on the freeway at 65MPH or going around town at 20MPH. Once stalled it starts up readily but in 2 to 5 miles it does it again.
Plenty of fuel, engine temp OK, oil nice and clean, no trouble codes set. The car has only 51,000 miles on it and maybe I'm learning why.

Symptoms indicates it is more likely to be an electrical/ignition related problem and is not going to be easy to diagnose without any trouble codes or other indictions.

The best way to go about would be to plug in a scan tool and test drive vehicle and when problem occurs, have the freeze frame data read to understand the engine management operations at that particular condition.

It could also be a simple solution as a failing relay which would intermittently fails whan it heats up.

Does problem occurs only after driving for a specific period of time or longer?

Does it stall only when gas pedal is released when on freeway?

What is the idling speed when engine is warmed up?

Freeze frame data is a record of the engine conditions (fuel system, calculated load, engine coolant temperature, fuel trim, engine speed, vehicle speed, etc.) When a malfunction is detected. When troubleshooting, it can help determine if the vehicle was running or stopped, the engine was warmed up or not, the air-fuel ratio was LEAN or RICH, and other data, from the time the malfunction occurred.
