Hi, have a 1989 SR5 4x4, 4 cyc, 22R 5 sp with 71K on it. Replaced the shifter bushing and seat but when coming to a stop, truck seems to slip into gear causing a learching of the vehicle. Not sure where to look next. Any ideas? Thanks, Jean

No, I am asking you how a manual transmission can simply "slip into gear" by itself. Never seen it happen in my life and I'm not young.

Yea I know. It is really weird. Took truck out for a test drive yesterday and friend were with me and saw it happen.I do put it into neutral as I approach a stop and when truck slows down, almost at a crawl, the truck jumps like in 1st.I dont do anything to the stick or clutch pedal, so its really weird. With the new parts, the shift stick seems to go into gear much better, like detending smooth. But this problem is really strange. There is no clutch pedal adjustment that I can find. I was thinking of check the gear oil but I dont think that is a fix. Sigh

Hope not. Going to try and change the way I drive. As it always responds when I go into gear, thru all speeds. The trans seems strong in all phases. If doesn't happen all the time, just once in a while. Maybe freewheeling to a stop is not a good thing. I do thank you for your responses. Will advise if I findout when the problem is.

Dud. Found the problem.A wheel cyclinder has been hanging up, only once in a while. Guess I mis-read what was actually happening. But the truck being 23 years old, things wear out! Thanks again for your responses as that kept me searching for the problem.
