89 jeep laredo has strong gas fumes in side cab. Have changed plugs, wires, dist. Cap, and button. Also have replace section of exhauste pipe that had crack. Where is fumes coming from? Runs ruff until you get it to 50 mpr then runs smooth.

You have a fuel leak. Get it checked asap so it does not catch fire.

After that is resolved, we can go after the motor running badly.

No sign of gas leaking from underneath jeep, where would we locate gas leak and could it be the manifold gaskets?

If you are referring to raw gas, no. That is an external leak.

If you are referring to a rich exhaust, that could be an exhaust leak or fuel control issue

Don't expect it to be hitting the ground if fuel is leaking. If you are smelling raw fuel, then you definitely have a leak and have to find it. Fuel will evaporate very quickly so you probably have to look for a wet spot while the engine is running and the fuel is under pressure.
