1989 Ford Ranger Repair Question

Don't **** in overdrive and the speedmeter inaccurated

Put another transmission in and it don't shift in overdrive and the speedometer is 10 mph faster than you are really going. Brought the transmission at a salvage yard had to charge the bell houseing because the starter was mounted on the oppsite side.Its a 2.3 with a automatic transmission with overdrive. can you help is it the wrong transmission or do i need to change something.

How's the transmission fluid level and condition?

Check and test the throttle position and vehicle position sensors and the electronic shift control module
