1988 Ford Telstar Repair Question

Airconditioner compressor
My mum just had a compressor replaced on her 1988 ford telstar, and now the engine has seized because there was no cap on the radiator .the person doing the work said he did not touch the radiator. Is it possible to do this work without touching the radiator

You don't need to mess with the radiator cap to replace the compressor unless it has a low coolant level and AC is being run thru for testing purposes and causing the engine to overheat a bit-this is the time you will need to check the coolant level probably he forgot to put it back-
