I have I guess what they call a 8 bolt gov-lock rear end its making a whining grinding noise oil is full and clean in pumpkin. Was thinking if I cant fix. Will a 14 bolt gov lock fit in its place along with three quarter ton spring.

Why dont' check in a junkyard for same type rear end. Lot easier to replace. You can use up to a 1992. Make sure it's same ratio

I don't think so as they are a lot wider than the half ton been a while on that truck. Don't know why you would want to do that anyhow when you can add a leaf or put in coil over shocks anyhow
