i have a 1988 buick century with a 2.8 v6 engine and when i drive down the road it goes dead. then it will crank back up and let me go for a little way then shut off again, it repeats this everytime. i put a brand new altinator in it but it still does the same thing. The battery is brand new and its been tested its a good battery.

yes, you might but only replace it after verifing the failure. throwing parts at it is expensive. make sure it is bad before replacing
