1987 Cadillac Brougham The engine drags

1987 Cadillac Brougham V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 118,000 miles. The engine drags after installing new timing chain. I took the chain back off and motors spins freely. Now the chain is back on and it drags like timing is off but no matter which way I turn distributor it stays the same. What have I done wrong or is there something else wrong? I never removed distributor.

To change timing you have to put it in limp mode, timing is set in computer so it stays, may have the distributor off a tooth check that also, put a jumper wire in the diagnostic terminal to get check engine light on ( limp mode).
