1986 Pontiac Sunbird Repair Question
Asked on February 17, 2012
Good morning, will the engine from a 1988 Chevy Cavalier (2.0 liter) with an automatic bolt up to the five speed manual transmission in a 1986 Pontiac Sunbird?
I would like to take the 2.0 from a cavalier sitting in my yard and install it in a Sunbird, also sitting in my yard. This is a labor of love, trying to get the Sunbird back on the road after several years at rest.
Both blocks are the same. The 1.8 in the Sunbird and the 2.0 in the cavalier were both made in south america by Mitsubishi (from what I've been told), and the autos both use the same chassis. I'm hoping it will be a straightfoward swap.
Will the manual flywheel bolt up?
